You’ve probably all heard about Crème De La Mer – It lines the beauty counters of Harrods and Selfridges and is constantly mentioned in fashion and beauty magazines as one of the top 10 skin products to use, the moistursing cream is rated one of the best in the world and with a price tag of £200+ one would hope so!!
I am always very reluctant when I decide to change my moisturiser, they say you shouldn’t stick to one always as your skin becomes immune to it over time and the benefits are not so obvious. Over the years my skin has changed from combination, to Oily to now dry! I guess it’s the harsh seasons we have had over the last couple of years plus I’ve had laser about 2 years ago and you can’t go one day without wearing SPF.
I decided to check out the Crème De La Mer collection at the airport earlier this year. I have held off doing a review because I wanted to be 100% my thoughts were accurate and reflective of testing the products over a period of time. I took the plunge and decided to get an eye cream as my eye area had begun getting puffy over the last year or so, the sales assistant recommended the ‘Eye Balm Intense (here)’ and said it was their best seller. I’m also really fussy when it comes to lip balms and find it hard to find something very moisturising but that doesn’t pigment the skin, I decided to also purchase ‘the lip balm (here).
Eye Balm Intense- I had high hopes for this, high hopes!! This is the most expensive eye cream I’ve ever bought and was so hopeful it would show great results, I have been using this for 5 months and can honestly say it is the biggest waste of money every, sure it’s moisturising but only for a short period of time, it has no effect on dark circles and I have noticed no difference, I would not recommend it at all. In fact I’ve found one for 1/15 of the price and will have details up on the blog soon, that one really works!
The Lip balm Contrary to above, this is probably the best lip balm I’ve ever used! Crazy considering the eye balm put me off. Its hydrating, long-lasting, great under matt lipsticks and does not dis-colour the lips, it works really well and I would most definitely purchase it again, well worth it!
