One thing I always look forward to when visiting Dubai is the outstanding pampering services that most of the hotels and resorts offer. It is exceptionally important for me because all of these services offer exclusive ‘women only’ options and which is something rare to come across in the UK. I use to visit the Sanctuary Spa in Covent Gardens often but since they are no longer trading it’s difficult to find somewhere which offers complete privacy but good service.
We began our day with drinks in the wonderful lounge of the Zabeel. If you haven’t visited the hotel you are really missing out. Not only is the service exceptional, the hotel and its architecture and the attention to detail is just outstanding.
We were then taken to meet one of the Spa managers who explained in more detail about what the spa offers, she gave us a guided tour and I was left in awe. The spa is absolutely huge and houses so many different treatment rooms, an actual Ottoman replicated hammam spa, together with an actual hamman, jacuzzi and sleeping area. There is also an opportunity to have a massage in the gardens outside and there is an ice room, steam room, sauna and many other treatment rooms. As I said before, the attention to detail is just exceptional. Each room and each area has been carefully thought of to make the spa experience seamless.
We first had a hammam scrub and treatment. Now if you have never had one before it is very… different! It can feel slightly intrusive because you wear little to nothing and you are being scrubbed, exfoliated, washed with a cloth and massaged down with bubbles before being rinsed off! I can however assure you this was one of the best hammam treatments I’ve had. I have experiences of them in Istanbul and Marmaris, however this was just fantastic. Having been left to relax and all cosied up in our towels we then took some time to go into the Jacuzzi and eat dates and mint tea whilst listening to tranquil music. Shortly after we were taken for our rose massages. If you know me you will know I love anything rose related- rose flavour, scent, flowers, anything! You can choose the intensity and I asked the therapist for an intense massage. Whilst I was left feeling quite exhausted, the oil and scrub combined left my body so soft for weeks.
If you are thinking of visiting any spa in Dubai I would most definitely stop by the Ottoman Spa (can’t wait for my next visit!) (we could not take many pictures inside for privacy reasons).
Any Spa’s you would recommend in the UK or abroad?
