During my recent trip to NYC (read about it here) I picked up a couple of items from Sephora and Macys which are not available here in the UK and thought I would share my thoughts on them. So grab a cup of tea and read on.
Sephora Lustre Matte Long Wear Lip Colour
As you can probably tell form this blogpost, I really do love all things pink. I love matte lipstick however they definitely don’t seem to look that great on me as they do on the models on Instagram! I always find them dry and flaky no matter how moisturised my lips are beforehand. I came across the Sephora range of matt lip stains and these were recommended for those who don’t get along with the lipstick versions (such a shame we don’t have a Sephora here!). They are so creamy and the colour is highly pigmented. You do have to wait 30 seconds for the colour to dry on your lips so it doesn’t transfer. It is one of my favourite purchases.
Hourglass Ambient Blush PaletteI read a lot about this palette. It’s sold by Space NK just off Bond St but was half the price in the states. I actually picked up the wrong one in Sephora as I initially was intending to get the lighting palette. I haven’t had a chance to use this much but one thing for sure is that the blushes are intensely pigmented, and can be worn either alone or on top of another blush to accentuate it. I need to play around with it a bit to wear it properly.
Chanel le Rouge Intense in 91I had this lipstick before and it’s probably my most favourite Chanel Lipsticks in 91. It’s a dewy girly light/medium pink and is very long lasting. It’s one I would buy again and again, and is perfect for both evenings and day looks.
Milani Lipstick and NYX PowderMy colleague told me about this range as she is American and I’d never heard about it. Can I just say how awesome the pharmacies are in the US?! Wow. They are like a department store with infinite amounts of makeup brands, I came across this lipstick from the Milani range and it is just WOW. It’s so creamy, highly pigmented and long lasting-such a beautiful girly colour. The NYX illuminating powder has a lot of good reviews so I thought I’d give it a try. I bought the Makeup Forever HD version last year but if you take a lot of pictures it a no-no. It doesn’t work well with flash photography and the powder stains show up so the NYX version is a great alternative and keeps makeup in place.
NYC Eyeliner in 887This is another item I read rave reviews on YouTube but every time I went to Superdrug for this NYC eyeliner it was sold out and no wonder why. It’s such an intense black and so long lasting. I prefer using this as bottom liner and its stays in place all day.
Too Faced- Primed for SexI’ve seen this so much on Instagram and when I saw it as a stocking filler in Sephora I thought why not try it out. The primer is very much like the Urban Decay one, the Mascara is just wow!!! Just one of the best I’ve used, would highly recommend.
I read about this but I’m not sure how I feel about it. My moisturisers always have to have SPF in them as it makes it easier than using two products. I always prefer thicker creams to softer ones and although my skin has improved and is less dry there’s just something I’m not sure about, I will continue to use it to see how it is and share my thoughts.
